Parks and gardens in Napoli

Rome has plenty of green space, and nearly always with a view. Villa Borghese is the great park of the centre, with a lake, the Bioparco zoo and, on its edge, the Pincio Terrace above Piazza del Popolo. Across the Tiber, the Janiculum Terrace looks down over the whole city, and a cannon fires there every day at noon. On the Aventine, the Orange Garden is the place for sunset, while in Trastevere the Botanical Garden has glasshouses and a Japanese garden. For a longer morning, the Appian Way Park follows the Roman road among tombs and pines.

The centre is easy to cover on foot; the planner puts the stops in order around the time you have.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
