Historic palaces in Milano

Milan's palaces do not show themselves from the street: the city is reserved, and behind the doors lie courtyards and gardens. The Castello Sforzesco is the dukes' great fortress, with courtyards open to all. The Palazzo Reale, beside the Duomo, hosts the major exhibitions. Villa Necchi Campiglio is a 1930s villa with a pool and garden, visited with a guide. Many other palaces on this page come from imported data: they are often offices and banks closed to the public, so check before you go.

The centre is easy to cover on foot; the planner puts the stops in order around the time you have.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
