Archaeological sites in Roma
Ancient Rome is concentrated in a valley between the Capitol and the Colosseum, and one ticket covers it. The Colosseum was the amphitheatre for the games; beside it, the Roman Forum was the city's main square, with the Palatine and its imperial palaces above. Along Via dei Fori Imperiali, between the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia, you walk above the emperors' forums. A little further south are the Circus Maximus, now a great lawn, and the Baths of Caracalla. In the centre, Largo di Torre Argentina shows four temples amid the traffic. For a full day out, Ostia Antica was Rome's harbour town: you get there by train.
The centre is easy to cover on foot; the planner puts the stops in order around the time you have.
