Attractions in Roma

Most of central Rome's sights sit in a triangle you can cross on foot in an hour, between Piazza del Popolo, the Vatican and the Colosseum. At its centre is the Pantheon, the Roman temple whose dome is open to the sky; five minutes away are Piazza Navona, built on the outline of Domitian's stadium, and the Trevi Fountain, where you toss your coin. From Via del Corso you climb to Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps, or walk down to Piazza Venezia and the Vittoriano, whose terrace looks over the Forums. Further south, the Mouth of Truth sits in the portico of a medieval church by the Tiber.

The centre is easy to cover on foot; the planner puts the stops in order around the time you have.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
