Beaches in Palermo

Palermo has no beach in the city centre: the city's beach is Mondello, to the north, a bus ride from the centre. Mondello Beach has pale sand and turquoise water in a bay framed by Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo. In the middle of the bay stands the old bathing pavilion, an Art Nouveau building on stilts, and behind it the Piazza di Mondello, the old fishing village with its boats and small harbour. Along the coast between the city and Mondello, Addaura is mostly rocks and bathing platforms. For sea without beach clubs, the Capo Gallo nature reserve past Mondello has coves you reach on foot.

Mondello takes half a day on its own; use the planner to shape the city part of your trip around it.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
