Museums in Palermo

Many of Palermo's museums are housed in historic palaces and convents, so the building is part of the visit. The Museo Archeologico Antonio Salinas covers ancient Sicily, including the metopes from the temples of Selinunte. In the Kalsa, Palazzo Abatellis is a Catalan Gothic palace holding the regional gallery, home to the huge Triumph of Death fresco and Antonello da Messina's Annunciata. A few streets away, Palazzo Butera mixes old and contemporary art and has a terrace over the sea, while Palazzo Mirto shows, room by room, how a noble family lived. With children, the Puppet Museum explains the Opera dei Pupi, Sicily's puppet theatre.

Abatellis, Butera, Mirto and the Puppet Museum all sit between the Kalsa and Piazza Marina, so the planner can link them in one short walk.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
