Theatres in Catania

The theatre to see in Catania is the Teatro Massimo Bellini, opened in 1890 and named after the composer of Norma, who was born in this city. The hall is rich in stucco and velvet, with a season of opera and concerts, and can be visited when there are no rehearsals. For ancient theatre there is the Teatro Romano, of lava stone, hidden among the houses of the centre. The other theatres on this page come from imported data and we have not picked through them yet: they are drama and music venues, so check the programme on their own site.

The centre is easy to cover on foot; the planner puts the stops in order around the time you have.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
