Beaches in Catania

Catania has two seas, one of sand and one of black lava rocks. To the south, La Playa is a long beach with clubs and free stretches, reached by bus from the centre, with Etna behind you. To the north, the Lungomare di Ognina runs along black rocks, and locals dive from wooden platforms at the summer lidos. For the finest beaches in the area you must leave the city, towards Aci Trezza and the Faraglioni. The beaches on this page come from imported data and are not a curated list yet: many are seasonal lidos.

The centre is easy to cover on foot; the planner puts the stops in order around the time you have.

Your browser will ask to share your location

It's only used to work out how many minutes' walk you are from each place open right now.

  • We only use it to work out distances, and we don't keep it. If you share a walk, its starting point in the link is rounded to about 100 metres.
  • No account, no history, no notifications.
  • Rather not? Pick the city yourself: it works just as well.
